Why I Want To Be a Teacher

I want to be a teacher because of many reasons, but most of all I want to inspire students. There are some teachers out there that want to teach, but some don’t know how much they actually inspire their students. I enjoy being in school and learning, but I can also say I have learned countless life lessons from my past teachers. Teachers can ether make or break a student’s hopes and dreams. It is important that students realize they themselves are their main obstacle in life, and if they overcome their doubt they can achieve great things. That alone needs to be a message to every student in any level including college.
The aspirations that the students have can easily be shaped by their teachers in bad ways. This can lead students towards not perusing their dreams, and they may end up settling for something mediocre. Teachers tend to influence their students that it would be too hard to pursue their goals. I never want to crush a student’s dream, but I want to encourage and motivate them. I want to teach students that nothing is given to anyone without hard work and determination. The future students that I have will leave my classroom knowing that they can achieve greatness.

I can’t even remember the day that I told myself that teaching was my passion, but I can remember every time someone has tried to convince me it wasn’t. I have had plenty of family members, friends, mentors, and even teachers tell me that teaching will under pay me and over stress me. I have never let this banter keep me back from teaching, because teaching is my dream and will be my near future.
